HOOD SEWING GUIDANCE COZ OF HIGH DEMAND

I guess, now it's time for giving a guiding in doing an Altair-Hood, which fabric to use (for the right look anno 1100). So many people ask me about it. You could say: persistant demand!:D
What I can do first is sending you my original pattern, I created for the hood (therefore I need ur emailadress, coz regretfully I have no other possibility to send it to here in deviantart). It has the original seams like in the game. Just write me a note and I will send you the pattern.

Notice: If you recieve the hood, do it use for personal use and not for giving it to other friends, related people etc. You can ask me for the pattern for yourself, not for others. Please respect this one rule.
-----------------
SHORT HOOD GUIDANCE
The fabric is white linen. Do neither use cotton nor bad quality linen. First of all you have to wash the bought linen, coz it shrinks 10%.
Use white cotton inside and thick linen outside.
The hood originally consist of nine parts. 9 outside and 9 inside (lining) parts. You actually have to sew the hood twice.
To strenghten the hood I used cords for all inner seams) and felt stripes (for the ending part on the shoulder toneck and back) in the seams for the "bead-look" in the game (therefore you have to use fabric inside and outside, otherwise you couldn't do the cord beads). It's very tough to sew this beads and you need patience.
Notice: With two layers the hood stays in form and is not that *flabby*.The hood is sewed on the upper robe layer so that it stays in form.

A proverb says, that half of the work is done by ironing. That's really true. You can do a lot of shaping with iron steam.
The rest of the robe has the same stragety like the hood.
How to sew it, you have to try yourself, explaings are not so helpful than a helpful hand, who shows you how to do it.

If you have any further questions, don't be shy to ask. I would like to help you, if I can.

Do you still send the patterns?
If so, I'd love to receive them, planning to make an assassin's outfit in summer. :)
This is actually the best hood I've seen so far. X3

That rememberd me to my last con in 2008, when I went to Bonn as L from Deathnote. The only thing I don't like at cons are the larpswords and all the plastic weapons. I know, why original weapons are not allowed, but it seems to me like "semiprofessional-I-can't-take-it-seriously" costumes without original (real) equipment. Therefore I like medieval events. There you can go with all the swords, you want (sure, swords, which are not sharp, by the way).:D

I guess, the next thing I will do, is writing down a guide here, how to do a hood, which fabric to use (for the right look anno 1100). So many People ask me about it. Persistant demand! Details I can't explain here, usually I have to show a person, how to do. Words are not enough *sigh*.

Do you have a company or do you that yourself in a garage?
Looks ver cool on facebook.
Have you made all the leather things on your own? Especially the hidden blade?
The hidden blade is the least thing that is missing in my costume. I'm not the welder in profession :D

Were just a do it urself team ^_^ but im always scout9ing for additions to my team, people who are really good at a specific thing (leather working, metal work, 3D framing, ext.) We actually just finished the hidden blade a few days ago and are ready to make it. The one in the picture is a real one so i cant take it to any cons >_< so we made one out of a type of plastic, and its funcional too! I
'll be posting pics as soon as we have it assembled. Stay tuned =D

do you sell your created work or do you just do it for your own pleasure?
Especially the hidden blade, the real one, do you sell it? and if you do, what is the price?

Well mostly I do it for myself but i wouldn't mind selling it. I'm not sure on the price just yet but as soon as we have it functioning i should know by then. You interested?

Sure. But it depends a little bit on the costs, if i am interested or not.
I got a probem with merchandise. the industry raise the price, It's so incredible expensive for such bad qulity(beside, not to mention, that it is produced in third world regions). I haven't something over that marketing stragety.

If you give me a suitable offer, i could agree with it.
First of all, it's all about quality, and when I buy something, Thats my most important point.:D
